Shanghai-born You Jianxia will definitely need a lot of mascara! Her super-lengthy eyelashes have earned her a spot in this year's #GWR2018 edition, for having the world longest eyelash, alongside other iconic human body records such as the longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female) and tallest high top fade. You Jianxia's luxurious lashes measure a length of 12.40 cm (4.88 inches), the longest being on her left upper eyelid. Jianxia first noticed her eyelashes growing during an eighteen-month nature retreat that she embarked on back in 2013, and she puts the unprecedented growth down to living at one with nature. The spiritual record-breaker says that having long eyelashes is beautiful as it shows she is healthy._______________________________________#guinnessworldrecords #officiallyamazing #eyelashes #eye #lashes #makeup #mascara #beauty #china #nature #healthy #spiritual | © instagram.com/guinnessworldrecords

@binithebunny has bounced his way into our first-ever #GWRAnimals Edition as the adorable rabbit who has record-breaking ability to do the Most basketball slam dunks in one minute by a rabbit. In a matter of sixty seconds, the Holland Lop rabbit can put a miniature basketball through a hoop seven times – an impressive total for such a tiny animal. Owner Shai Asor affectionately jokes that Bini developed an interest in basketball thanks to him. One day in their home of Los Angeles, California, USA, Shai noticed that Bini was playing with a ball and a box, and that he kept pushing the ball towards the box. From this, he realised he could train Bini to perform basketball movements - and they practiced until the clever cottontail became a pro!Bini is a well-rounded rabbit, and enjoys the arts as much as sports. He is capable of styling hair and painting, by holding a paint brush in his mouth. For more than 35 years, die-hard arcade fiends have battled to rule the scoreboard in Nintendo’s 1981 classic, Donkey Kong – a fierce competition that was immortalized in the 2007 documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. But on May 5, 2016, Wes (USA) achieved an incredible score of 1,218,000 points - claiming the Guinness World Records title for Highest score on Donkey Kong.It took Wes three hours to accomplish the record - and experts speculate that Copeland’s performance could actually include every known point in the game! Last week British ultra-endurance cyclist @mrmarkbeaumont completed his epic round-the-world journey which led him to achieve a new record for the 'Fastest circumnavigation by bicycle (male)'. The epic journey was originally titled Around The World in 80 Days, but Mark managed to accomplish the new record title in a matter of 78 days, 14 hours and 40 minutes. The long-distance athlete set off in Paris on 2 July, before cycling through Europe, Russia and China – the first stage of his journey – and then moving on to reach Western Australia on 31 July.Mark was cycling so fast, that during his first 29 days, he achieved a record for 'Farthest distance cycled in one month': 11,315.29 km (7,031 miles).Unsurprisingly, Mark faced several serious challenges along the way, including a perilous fall, sub-zero temperatures during winter in Australia and New Zealand, and being caught up in secondary storms of Hurricane Irma when he traveled through the United States. At the finish line, he was greeted by his family and our official adjudicator who presented the cyclist with his certificates. Gamer fans will be thrilled to know that their dreams have come true: the world's largest Game Boy has been created, and it's totally awesome. Ilhan Ünal, a science student who has entered this year’s Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2018 for creating this larger-than-life Game Boy. The Belgian student is incredibly smart and developed the 1.01 m tall, 0.62 m wide device using a laboratory and special laser cutting machines. Ilhan’s inspiration for the project came from his friend, who needed a visitor attraction for a school project. For those wondering, yes, it does work like a normal Game Boy, even though it is 6.75 times bigger than the original. Ilhan says that pressing the buttons requires so much exercise that he can’t feel his arms after an hour of playing! His masterpiece is featured in the GWR Gamer's 2018 edition alongside other fantastic gaming achievements, which is now available across the globe. 🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮To learn more about this supersized Game Boy, click the link in our bio. Love extreme sports? Then you'll definitely want to meet pogo pro Biff Hutchison @pogobiff (USA), who is in this year's #GWR2018 edition for having the title for the Highest jump on a pogo stick at 11 ft 0.5 in (3.36 m). Biff is the first person to clear 11 ft which is twice the height of the average human. He's achieved new heights just three years after he first grabbed the title with a 9 ft 7 in jump. The reward does not come without great risk - in fact, Biff has broken both ankles multiple times, his right leg in five places, dislocated his knee caps, broken his collar bone, jaw, wrists and the list goes on – it’s no wonder his mom doesn’t like to watch his competitions! Biff says, "I have made it my life’s goal to make the sport of extreme pogoing as legitimate as possible." Check out this vibrant new record achieved in Guatemala, for the largest colored water mosaic! This impressive image measures 603.47 m² and depicts a traditional image of Guatemalan culture which represents the pyramid of Tikal and two of Guatemala's national symbols: the Quetzal bird and the flower Lycaste Skinneri Alba, also known as the White Nun Orchid. In Guatemala, the Quetzal bird is a symbol of liberty and the flower symbolizes peace, beauty, and art - fitting for this particular title. The record attempt was organized in the shopping center Plaza Arkadia, where YUS de Toki, a Jamaican drink mix company, had volunteers lay down the cups with different colored water side by side to form the final work of art. Each color used in the mosaic is representative of a unique flavor drink that they have. For the final count, the surveyor used a measuring tape to check the entire surface of the mosaic and ensure it met all guidelines. In total 105,000 cups were used, earning the Guatemalan company a new record. --------------------------------------#guinnessworldrecords #art #mosaic #guatemala #cups #water #colors #culture #heritage #beauty #peace #symbols #liberty #flower #birds #drinks | © instagram.com/guinnessworldrecords

We can officially confirm that @ekaterina_lisina15 from Russia is the NEW title holder for the Longest legs (female). At a height of 6'9", her super long legs are an unparalleled 132.8 cm long for the left leg and 132.2 cm (52.0 in) long for the right leg, as measured in her hometown of Penza, Russia. In order to make sure all guidelines were followed, a doctor and seamstress took Ekaterina's measurements. Over the years, her height has also enhanced her basketball career, a talent that also runs in her family, and she won a bronze medal playing for Russia in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. But despite her athletic abilities, Ekaterina always wanted to be model – so she gave up playing basketball in order to pursue this dream. She has now been working as a professional model for over a year, and as a result she now holds the Guinness World Records title for the Tallest professional model. Ekaterina grew up in a rather tall family, with her parents and siblings having a stature well above 6 feet. Though she's always felt comfortable with them, she was teased often in school for being so much taller than the other kids, making her want to achieve this record so that she could "be an inspiration to girls who are not very confident." 💃👠💁🏻--------------------------------------------------Tag someone to inspire them! #guinnessworldrecords #tall #longest #legs #russia #Beijing #olympics #2008 #basketball #modeling #career #model #tall #professional #inspire #girls #confidence #rolemodel #family | © instagram.com/guinnessworldrecords

This week we're inspired by Larry Chloupek - an avid runner who has earned not one but TWO record titles for completing marathons with just one leg and a pair of crutches. Many are intimidated by a 26-mile race, but nothing could stop this determined athlete from conquering his dreams. When Larry was a child, he was diagnosed with bone cancer at a time before chemotherapy was available. To save his life, doctors concluded that the seven year old boy who had a passion for sports needed to have his leg removed, leaving Larry to walk using a prosthesis and crutches. Though devastating, he was still eager to be involved on sports teams, working as a team manager for middle and high school. His gym teachers witnessed his perseverance, and worked with him until he was able to play modified versions of certain sports and was able to run again. Later in life Larry began to take distance running more seriously as his wife became involved with marathons. With intense training and a lot of weight lifting to build up his arms, he was able to take on half and full marathons, inspiring many other competitors along the way. Now Larry has managed to achieve records for Fastest marathon on crutches (one leg) in a time of 5 hours and 37 min as well as Fastest half marathon on crutches (one leg) in 2 hours and 31 min. His story is proof that anything is possible once you set your mind to it! On this day the first Guinness World Records book was published. The 198-page edition was bound on 27 August 1955.But how did it all begin? The idea for a book of records began in the early 1950s when Sir Hugh Beaver (1890—1967), Managing Director of the Guinness Brewery, attended a shooting party in County Wexford, Ireland. There, he and his hosts argued about the fastest game bird in Europe, and failed to find an answer in any reference book. In 1954, recalling his shooting party argument, Sir Hugh had the idea for a Guinness promotion based on the idea of settling pub arguments and invited twin brothers Norris (1925—2004) and Ross McWhirter (1925—75) to compile a book of facts and figures 📚________________________#guinnessworldrecords #books #reading #publishing #otd #onthisday #officiallyamazing #til #GWR2018 | © instagram.com/guinnessworldrecords

#Repost @thefwordfox:After a triumphant season of record-breaking on FOX’s The F Word with Gordon Ramsay, the finale of the competitive cooking show ended on a high note with the award-winning chef and star of the show earning his second Guinness World Records record title! Official adjudicator Michael was welcomed to the set once again, this time to verify Gordon’s culinary record attempt for the longest pasta sheet rolled in one minute. The Michelin starred chef needed to ensure that once rolled, the pasta sheet would be no less than 0.15 cm thick. Gordon had plenty of practice in attempting records during previous episodes throughout the season. For this last attempt to mark the end of a fantastic season of culinary record-breaking, Gordon managed to achieve a new record title for rolling a 1.45 m (4 ft 9 in) pasta sheet. A range of contenders have recently achieved new records on The F Word for the largest pizza base spun in one minute, most slices of carrots sliced while blindfolded in 30 seconds, and most juice extracted from grapes by treading in one minute. On more than one occasion chef Ramsey even appeared alongside his daughter Tilly. Ali Bahçetepe (Turkey) is a smashing martial artist - literally. The professional is known for his ability to break concrete in several stunts he has performed to achieve Guinness World Records titles. Ali recently set a new record for the fastest time to break 16 concrete blocks on the body (male). With a time of 6.33 to beat, which he achieved in 2015, Ali hoped that the two years of practice would pay off. In this video, Ali's assistant used a 6.35 kg (14 lb) sledgehammer to break the blocks as fast as possible while Ali laid beneath the slabs on the ground. This week ultra fitness mom Eva Clarke inspires us to push our selves to the limits with her incredible record-breaking story. When Eva was just a child in Australia, she always found she had a natural ability and talent when it came to sports - in fact, she often used athletics as an outlet for personal adversities she needed to overcome. As she grew older, she continued to pursue fitness as a career in the Australian army, where she became a sub unit physical training instructor until her diagnosis with Keinbock's Disease. Kienbock’s is a rare condition that debilitates movement in the joints and causes chronic and severe pain in the carpal bones of one’s wrist. Left untreated, Eva could suffer bone death from a lack of blood supply to the affected area. Nevertheless, she recovered without surgery and performed modified exercises so she could continue her athletic journey, and did this until her first record title - Most knuckle push-ups in one hour (female) and Most knuckle push-ups in 24 hours (female). Since those first attempts, Eva has acquired an outstanding TEN Guinness World Records titles in an array of fitness disciplines, including Most burpees in 24 hours (female) and Fastest marathon carrying a 40-lb pack (female). All of her attempts were done to raise money for charitable organizations. While it's been some time since Eva's last record was set, she plans on breaking more in the near future! Most numbers identified by a horse in one minute. This week we're inspired by dynamic duo Karen and Lukas, an owner and her horse who came together to help heal each other from difficult pasts. With his original owners, thoroughbred Lukas was intended to be a race horse, but the stubborn gelding didn't like having his will forced. After collapsing on the track in last place and the end of his first race, he was given away to several homes, where he was later neglected and left to starve in a secluded backyard. After being rescued, Karen acquired the recovering Lukas from her friend, who she was eager to help. Karen had 30 years of experience of psychiatric nursing, so she used the same caring, loving, and positive enrichment methods on her patients on to Lukas through a series of games. Slowly gaining trust, Lukas revealed he was one smart horse! He was able to understand concepts such as proportions, shapes, colors, his own reflection, and identify numbers and letters. Karen wanted Lukas's story to be an example of what kind treatment can do for animals, so they applied for the record Most numbers identified by a horse in one minute. After a high pressure sixty seconds, Lukas identified 19 numbers, earning him a Guinness World Records title and the affectionate name "world's smartest horse". _____________________To read their full story click the link in our bio 🐎_____________________#guinnessworldrecords #horse #horses #training #farm #racehorse #owner #enrichment #care #love #pet #friendship #smart #rescuehorse | © instagram.com/guinnessworldrecords

It is with great sadness that Guinness World Records has learned of the death of record holder Yisrael Kristal, the world’s Oldest living man, who passed at the age of 113. Kristal, who is survived by his two children, multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren, has died just a month before his 114th birthday in his home town of Haifa, Israel. He first claimed his title as the world’s Oldest living man at the age of 112 years and 178 days on 11 March 2016, and was awarded his certificate at his home in Haifa, by Guinness World Records’ Head of Records Marco Frigatti. Yisrael was born in Poland, near the town of Zarnow on 15 September, 1903 to parents Moszek-Dawid and Brucha Krystztal. Yisrael showed tremendous bravery throughout his long life, including surviving the First World War at age 11 despite being separated from his parents. In 1920 he moved to Łódź in Poland to work in the family confectionery business - but 20 years later Kristal would face one of the largest adversities in his life: the Nazi invasion of Poland, where Kristal was moved into the Łódź ghetto with his family in 1939. In 1943 he was sent to Auschwitz, where Kristal lost his wife, Chaja Feige Frucht along with their two children during the Holocaust. Kristal himself survived, performing backbreaking slave labor in Auschwitz and other concentration camps. He was rescued from the brink of death by the Allies in May 1945 weighing only 37 kilos. A sole survivor of a large family, he then immigrated in 1950 to the city of Haifa in Israel with his second wife and their son. Since that time, Kristal continued to grow both his family and his successful confectionary business in Haifa surrounded by his loved ones until his death. _____________________Speaking at the time of his Kristal's certificate presentation, Marco Frigatti, Head of Records for GWR said: “Mr Kristal’s achievement is remarkable - he can teach us all an important lesson about the value of life and how to stretch the limits of human longevity.” | © instagram.com/guinnessworldrecords

In honor of #NationalIceCreamSandwichDay, @Mashable attempted to set one "cool" record title for the Most layers in an ice cream sandwich! Partnering with Brooklyn-based ice cream shop @oddfellowsnyc , Mashable streamed the attempt while two ice cream sandwich aficionados took care of building the structure. Guinness World Records guidelines states that in order to be successful, the sandwich tower had to have at least 8 oz of ice cream between cookies, and have a minimum of 30 layers. During the attempts, the biggest struggle for the team was building fast enough before the bottom of the tower melted. However, they got really crafty when they decided to spray the tower with liquid nitrogen as they stacked - how creative! Though we admire their ingenuity, they unfortunately did not receive the record title. Nonetheless, all participants put up a great effort, and some very strategic methods, so we can't wait to see what they bring to the table next year! Can you guess what flavor ice cream was used? This week, we're motivated by the remarkable journey of Chhamji Sherpa and her father Dendi, who showed immense courage when braving a record-breaking climb up Mount Everest. Being born in a small town of Nepal, Chhamji grew up with stunning snow-capped mountains in her backyard. Her father worked in Katmandu as a mountain guide, in which Chhamji witnessed clients travel from all over the world come to climb the deadly mountain. Becoming inspired by these adventurers, she asked her parents to summit Everest at the age of 16, very much aware of the high-risk situation she would be putting herself in by pursuing the hike. Though Dendi had suffered from a severe avalanche accident just a few years prior, he decided to accompany his daughter to protect her from any harm she might face in climbing. In this story, both father and daughter undergo tremendous hardships - ranging from altitude sickness, lack of oxygen, and several other near death experiences. "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Words spoken on this day in 1969 when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took their first steps on the Moon. At that time, the @nasa astronauts made history as a result of the ideological and technological arms race culminated with the Apollo 11 mission. For the next three days on the lunar surface, they would conduct scientific tests and explorations as the world's First men on the Moon. Zama Mofokeng has an incredible story about pursuing your dreams, and it begins with his recent achievement for the Most consecutive backflips (one hand) in Tembisa, South Africa. Many in the area know that Zama is passionate about gymnastics. He's been practicing since the age of ten - until he sustained a severe hand injury at the age of 13. Zama's epilepsy condition combined with an unusable hand was a major set back in his favorite sport, but it didn't stop him from becoming a local legend. With a lot of practice, hard work and dedication, Zama set a new record for 34 consecutive back flips, hoping to inspire young children to pursue gymnastics. Upon achieving a new Guinness World Records title, Zama said: “I told myself I have my other hand, which is not injured, and that means I am still able to do the sport. I had no idea that my attempt to flip with one hand would set me apart from my peers." 💪🏅 #guinnessworldrecords #dreams #gymnastics #followyourdreams #gymnast #hardwork #dedication #passion #backflip #records #practice #SouthAfrica #officiallyamazing | © instagram.com/guinnessworldrecords

This week we're inspired by Hunter Sims, a teen who not only made big waves in the wake surfing industry, but also achieved an impressive record title to raise money for charity. From Auburndale, Florida, Hunter, who had no experience in the sport of wake surfing at the age of fourteen, was suddenly considering a pro career by age sixteen. With practice, and a little help from competition officials, Hunter mastered the different tricks and moves needed to win medals at national and world competitions - beating opponents who had been boarders for years. Upon making a name for himself in the world of wake surfing, Hunter decided to use the attention to bring awareness to a cause that matters dear to his heart: Small Steps for Compassion, an organization that provides housing for orphans in Tanzania. Attempting "Most consecutive wakesurfing shove-its", a move that requires substantial leg strength, he managed to break the record with 106 tricks in total and raise $6,000 for the charity. This week we are drawing inspiration from Joshua Velez, a young Puerto Rican gymnast who was determined to be successful in his sport. Joshua first started gymnastics at the age of five after being fascinated with acrobats he saw on TV. When his father saw his strong interest, he enrolled Joshua into gymnastics school, where he would go on to learn several disciplines from tumbling to trampolining. The athlete practiced so much that he went on to compete globally, until he reached his early twenties when he decided it was time to add "record-breaker" to his list of accomplishments. Joshua's goal to become a record holder took over everything else - he was determined to set a new record for the Most forward walkovers in a minute, a high-pressure sixty seconds that if achieved, would be the first time a male had mastered the feat. With the help of dedicated friends and a significant amount of stamina and practice, Joshua flipped 48 times in one minute, obtaining a new record. Created by five professional pastry chefs, the world's longest fraisier pâtissier (French strawberry cake) used a whopping 720 eggs, 300 egg yolks, 27 kg sugar, 30 kg wheat flour and 200 kg of strawberries. For those who don't know, a Fraisier pâtissier is a French strawberry cake made with fresh strawberries, layers of crème and sponge cake, often finished with a decorative marzipan topping. For this attempt, the chefs who made the final mouth watering product baked 55 individual sections of cake, before joining them up into one 32.24 meter long pastry. As you can see, the final result was stunning... and delicious. #guinnessworldrecords #officiallyamazing #tasty #pastry #strawberry #france #french #dessert #cream #creme #cake #chef #sweet #sugar | © instagram.com/guinnessworldrecords

At the age of six, Itsuki Morita from Japan is making history as the record holder for the world's youngest club DJ (and arguably the cutest). Recently he played an hour set at a restaurant&bar L in Osaka, Japan using professional Pioneer XDJ AERO decks in front of a big crowd which earned him the title. Itsuki, who is still in elementary school, first learned how to mix after learning from a friend of his mother. Though his favorite DJ is @avicii, Itsuki loves playing a mix of disco and rock music. According to his mom, the young musician "didn’t give up thinking he could become a world record holder". Evidently his talent and hard work has paid off, and now DJ Itsuki has one cool fact to share with all his friends! We'll see if he accomplishes any more DJ records in the course of his budding career. #guinnessworldrecords #officiallyamazing #japan #DJ #club #music #mix #remix #restaurant #bar #osaka #disco #rock #avicii #talent #records | © instagram.com/guinnessworldrecords
